The tonsils are out!

We got up before the rooster this morning and were on our way to Cranbrook to get rid of yet another set of tonsils. This time it was Shayne's turn. On the way there we saw 2 herds of Elk....and them bucks had some HUGE antlers. Only saw one deer. Otherwise it was a good trip. Got to Cranbrook in time for me to do my Canadian duty and go to Tim Hortons for some tea and breakfast. Then it was off to the hospital. The above picture is of Shayne still with his tonsils. He wasn't too impressed with the hospital gown...he didn't like wearing a 'dress'. LOL He got into surgery at the time he was supposed to and came out about an hour and a half later. He had a little problem waking up! When they brought him back to me in Day Care he was not smiling like his sister Meredith did after her tonsillectomy. He was a little feisty and a man of few words. He rested the rest of the morning well and when he woke up he ate his popsicle and drank some apple juice, peed, and we were on our way! We did a little shopping before we left Cranbrook and were still home by 5pm local time! He was happy that we were home in time for Kids Korner, but I wouldn't let him go. So since I didn't let him go to Kids Korner he got lay on the couch and watch a Star Wars movie. He's complained of little pain and is enjoying his diet today of popsicles, Slurpees, and butterscotch pudding. His only real complaint was about 'the hanging down thingy in the back of my throat' is swollen and is bothering him...but that has already gotten better, too.

Thank you for all your positive thoughts and prayers.

Shayne's Tonsillectomy turn

This week is one of those EXTREMELY busy weeks for the Walker's. On top of Shayne getting his tonsils out tomorrow it is also Creston Valley Music Festival Week AND baseball and soccer season starts.

This morning Christina played her two solo pieces for the music festival. The judge really liked what she played and she did do very well. She plays her duet with Adriana tomorrow evening.

Tomorrow Shayne gets to have his tonsils taken out. They have been getting bigger and bigger the last little while and he snores like Fred Flinstone at night. I promised Dr. Jewett that this one would be un-eventful. I will post an update tomorrow when we get home (see? positive thoughts). The only bad part so far is the fact that I have to drive to Cranbrook so darn early in the morning....his check in is 6:30 Cranbrook time (5:30 Creston time) and surgery time is then approximately 8:20 Cranbrook time (7:20 Creston time). So will hopefully be home mid afternoon.

Tonight Shayne will have his first and last baseball practice (for a while) and Meredith has her first day of soccer. Christina starts soccer later in the week due to her music festival performances. Of course these can't be scheduled any more screwy....over supper time. So until the end of June we will be eating on the run!

That is all for now and will update you on Shayne tomorrow!

Spring Shrug

Christina got a new spring dress this year and it has spaghetti straps and she wanted a sweater (without buttons...she hates buttons) to go over her shoulders. "Gee, Mom, can't you knit me one?" Because you know that I can knit just about anything, right? (Not really...LOL) So here is a shrug that I knit for her to wear with her dress.

Happy 7th Birthday Meredith!

Can't believe our little Meredith is 7 already! The picture of her in bed was the morning of her birthday. That day at school they had their Seniors Tea where the seniors in the area are invited for tea and entertainment put on by the Canyon Lister Elem. School kids. What a wonderful gift the have the young and old in one place for an afternoon. She had a GREAT time. After school we had our weekly Sparks meeting and it was Easter themed...she loved that, too. I had book club that night (I asked her permission if I could go and she said I could) so we didn't celebrate. Friday her best friend Jacy came over in the afternoon and we had pizza and cupcakes and opened presents and cards. Thank you to everyone that sent cards, monetary gifts, and gave her gifts. She had a great birthday!
